We at the St. Croix Valley Church of Christ believe the Bible is the complete inspired word of God (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). We do not believe that the Bible has “some” of what God reveals to us or that “some of the Bible” is inspired by God. We believe every word of the Bible is God’s word and that the Bible contains all of God’s revelation for man today (2 Peter 1:3)! This strong belief in the inspiration of the Bible directly affects our approach to all matters of life. When we speak about worship, salvation, or any spiritual topic we immediately want to go to the Scriptures to be sure we understand what God desires.
While the St. Croix Valley Church of Christ began meeting in July 2017, it is our conviction that we are a part of the church Christ established more than 2000 years ago. Throughout the New Testament there are many congregations of the Lord’s people, but they all make up the one church following the word of God. We strive to be a faithful congregation inside the Lord’s church today.
God has assured us that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23). God’s love took Him to the cross that we might have eternal life through Him (John 3:16; Romans 5:8; 6:23). We are saved only because of God’s grace (Acts 15:11). God offers salvation freely to every man, but He also requires something of each man for that salvation (James 2:17-26). A careful study of the New Testament reveals that to be saved one must:
- Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, the Christ; that Jesus came to this earth a man, lived and died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day (Acts 8:37; 15:7; Romans 10:9; Mark 16:16; 2 Corinthians 15:2-4).
- Repent from his or her life outside of Christ and choose to live in obedience to Christ (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 26:20; Romans 6:1-7; 2 Corinthians 7:9, 10; 2 Peter 3:9).
- Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the Father (Acts 8:36, 37; Romans 10:9-10; 1 John 4:2, 3, 15).
- Be baptized into Jesus Christ for the remission of his or her own sins (Matthew 28:19, 20; Acts 2:41; 8:12; 8:36-38; 10:48; 18:8; 22:16; Romans 6:3; Galatians 3:26, 27; 1 Peter 3:21).
